Nous quitterons Wainright en debut d’apres-midi. Hier une nappe de petrole a ete reperee en mer au large de Wainwright, elle ferait une quanrantaine de miles de long soit 60 bons km. Des avions observent la nappe, personne ne sait d’ou elle provient mais elle va creer une maree noire. Des morses en quantite et pres de la cote remontaient hier vers le Nord, il vaut mieux s’eloigner d’ici pour les animaux. Ces derniers jours l’hotel etait envahi par des personnes venues en reunion a propos d’exploitation petroliere. La Shell a trouve du petrole offshore du cote d’Icy Cape dans le SW de Wainwright. L’exploitation pourrait debuter dans une dizaine d’annees. Souhaitons que ce qui arrive aujourd’hui ne soit pas un mauvais presage. A+ Thierry

We’ll leave Wainwright this afternoon. A large oil spill has been detected at sea near Wainwright, about 40 miles length. Coast guards planes are in the area, for the moment nobody knows from where it’s coming. Yesterday?a lot of walrus where going north near the shore. Last days there was a lot of people here, in the hotel, they came for an oil meeting. Shell company has found offshore oil near Icy Cape in the SW of Wainwright. Exploitation could start in 10 years.
